      Worked example: the nude French

Tap “Nude French”. The studio paints almond nails in Nude with a White tip, and shows Easy and about 30 minutes: 20 minutes for a plain two-coat manicure with drying, plus 10 for the tip line. The steps are:

      1. File nails to a almond shape, push back cuticles and apply a thin base coat.
      2. Paint two coats of the sheer base color and let them dry.
      3. Use a thin brush or tape guide to paint a smile line along the free edge in the accent color.
      4. Fill in the tip, clean the edges with a small brush dipped in remover, then top coat.
      5. Finish with top coat and wrap the free edge.

You will need: base coat and top coat, nude polish, white polish, thin brush or tip guides, nail file for the almond shape, remover and cotton pads. See also: acrylic nail designs.

Nude French nail recipe card with steps, level and time

Six looks, their levels and times

      Look Pattern Level About
Nude French French tip Easy 30 min
Blush hearts Hearts Easy 35 min
Lilac ombre Ombre Easy 30 min
Black and gold stripes Stripes Easy 30 min
Mint dots Polka dots Beginner 30 min
White marble Marble swirl Intermediate 40 min

The level and the time are our own estimate for a first-time painter, worked out from the pattern. White marble is the slowest look because the veins have to be drawn and blurred on every nail.

How to choose a nail design

      • New to painting: start with dots or a French tip, which need one extra color and one simple tool.
      • Short nails: vertical lines such as stripes and a French tip make the nail look longer.
      • Long nails: ombre and marble flow along the length, so the pattern is not cut off at the tip.
      • For a special day: choose one accent nail for the pattern and keep the others plain, so the design stays tidy.

Levels and minutes for six nail designs

      Nail shapes at a glance

The shape changes how a design looks. In step 1 of the studio, try each of five shapes on the same look: oval is rounded, square has a flat tip, almond narrows to a soft point, coffin is long with a flat tip and stiletto ends in a sharp point.

      How we checked it

On 22 October 2026 we tapped each of the 6 looks in Chrome and compared the level and the minutes with the studio rules for pattern difficulty: 6 looks, no differences. The recipe card prints on one page.

      Skin and safety

Test a small patch of skin before you use a new polish or remover, work in a ventilated room and keep products away from eyes and cuts. Stop if your skin gets red, itchy or swollen. This is design inspiration, not medical advice; see the disclaimer.
