Toenail Nail Art Designs

Six toenail nail art designs: cherry red toes, mint dots, sky blue French, glitter big toe, floral big toe and navy stars

Toenail nail art designs are patterns painted on toenails, usually simple ones, because toenails are small and often covered by shoes: a bright solid, dots, a French tip, or one decorated big toe. Tap one of six looks to see its steps, level and time, then change the colors.

Worked example: the glitter big toe

Tap “Glitter big toe”. The studio paints oval nails in Blush pink with Silver glitter on the accent nail only, and shows Beginner and about 25 minutes: 20 minutes for a plain two-coat pedicure with drying, plus 5 for the glitter on one toe. The steps it gives are:

      1. File nails to a oval shape, push back cuticles and apply a thin base coat.
      2. Paint two coats of the base color and let them dry.
      3. Dab glitter polish on the sponge or brush and press it onto the nail, heavier near the tip.
      4. Seal with a thick top coat to smooth the texture.
      5. Finish with top coat and wrap the free edge.

You will need: base coat and top coat, blush pink polish, silver polish, glitter polish or loose glitter, makeup sponge, nail file for the oval shape, remover and cotton pads.

      Tips for painting toenails

      • Use a toe separator or a folded tissue between toes so wet polish does not touch.
      • Paint the big toe last, because it is the nail you are most likely to bump.
      • Toenails are small: keep patterns to one accent toe, usually the big toe, and leave the rest plain.
      • Give each coat a few minutes to dry, and wear open shoes until the top coat is fully dry.

Levels and minutes for six toenail nail art designs

      Which look for which season?

      • Summer sandals: Mint dots and Sky blue French look fresh and need only a dotting tool or a thin brush.
      • Quick weekend pedicure: Cherry red toes is a single color, Beginner level and about 20 minutes.
      • One-toe detail: Glitter big toe and Floral big toe put the pattern on a single nail.

      How we checked it

On 22 October 2026 we tapped each of the 6 looks in Chrome and compared the level and the minutes with the studio rules for pattern difficulty: 6 looks, no differences. The recipe card prints on one page.

      Skin and safety

Test a small patch of skin before you use a new polish or remover, work in a ventilated room and keep products away from eyes and cuts. Stop if your skin gets red, itchy or swollen. This is design inspiration, not medical advice; see the disclaimer.

      Frequently asked questions

What is the easiest toenail art?

A single color is the easiest, and it is Beginner level in the studio. Dots and glitter on the big toe are also Beginner.

How long does a toenail design take?

About 20 to 35 minutes including drying by our estimate for a first-time painter; toes are small but need more drying time in shoes.

Which toe is best for an accent nail?

Most people choose the big toe, because it is the largest nail and the easiest to paint a small pattern on.

      Can I change a look?

Yes. After tapping a look, change the shape, the pattern or the colors, and the steps and time update.
